This means, we the people are commited to make the generation "noble citizens" on
the earth. We educationist people and institutions are spread over in the world
for the mission of knowledge and wisdom. We are trying over best for functions of
traditions and value oriented education. So an attempt to attain a noble character
in the field of Sanskrit education and brilliance through knowledge is the prime
motto of our college.
The mission statements of the institution are:
- To contibute richly to the development of the quality of the life of youth.
- To foster value based quality such as discipline, character building, tolerance,
commitment and humanity.
- To encourage curiosity, innovative approach and scientific temprament among modern
youth.
The emblem reflects the objectives of all the educational institutions. It comprises
of noble cause of making ARRAYS (NOBLE PERSONS) on the earth. The mission statement
is in consonance with the emblem and underline the high and noble principle with
the college shall attempt to work in the field of education. These words frame a
life long philosophy to the students for addressing the need of society they live
in. As such this maintains the institutions traditionally rich and value oriented.
This college was first established by former ruler of BAGHAT ESTATE Late Raja Durga
Singh on 13th April 1929 as Tarini Sanskrit Pathshala. Since its inception, this
college remained affiliated to the Punjab University Lahore till 1947. After independence,
this institution was taken over by Government of Punjab and remained affiliated
to Punjab University, Chandigarh w.e.f. 1947 - 1971. From 1971 to date, this institution
is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University Shimla-171005.
The Government of Himachal Pradesh conferred a status of Government Sanskrit College
to this institute in the year 1999 and the University Grand Commission gave it recognition.
Thousands of Shastri teachers are graduates from this institution. This college
is leading Sanskrit Institution in the north region of India. Right from 1962, this
college started post graduate classes in the subject of Vyakaran, Sahitya, Jyotish
and Darshan. This is a co-educational college and imparting education in traditional
as well as modern subjects. For the purpose of syllabus, examinations & degrees
this college follows the guidline of the H.P. University and University Grand Commission.
This college is being connected with NAAC for accerditation.
Besides Sanskrit subjects, the college is imparting education in modern subjects
i.e. Hindi, Political Science, History, English & Computer Education which are
equivalent to the courses of Government Degree Colleges. After the introduction
to new RUSA system, the students get a traditional Vashisht Shastri degree as well
as Graduate degree in modern subjects equivalent to graduate level.
